THIS WEEK ON JT40
Due to the uncertain fate of Josh's hosting on countdownradio.net, I have decided to change hosts once again, this time to Freehostia. Since I just registered to the host this afternoon, the site won't be fully updated until later in the week, but I did update this week's chart for your viewing pleasure. Spice Girls Tie For Second Longest Reign Of 2007 Though it's expected to break their streak of never missing the top 2 on the UK top 40, the Spice Girls' "Headlines (Friendship Never Ends)" manages to spend a fourth straight week at #1 in its fifth week on Jessica's Top 40. If "Headlines" can get a fifth week, it will become the second longest reigning #1 of the year; it currently shares the honor with Evans Blue's "The Pursuit" and Girls Aloud's "Sexy! No, No, No..." Speaking of Girls Aloud, they look the most likely to replace the Spice Girls, as "Call The Shots" moves up 5-2 in its sixth chart week. With their new album "Tangled Up" out this week in the UK and the single to follow next week, it's possible it can benefit from release hype and become the group's fourth #1 single. Meanwhile, Duran Duran falls 2-3 with "Falling Down", followed by a 9-4 jump from Kylie Minogue's "2 Hearts", which becomes her highest charting single since she reached #1 with "Red Blooded Woman" in April 2004. Paramore's former #1 "Crushcrushcrush" drops 3-5, holding on in the top 5 on the same week it went for adds on modern rock radio. Fuel earns their second top 10 hit with "Gone", which advances 13-9. Delta Goodrem earns her tenth with "Believe Again", up 17-10. As personal charts and radio stations have quickly added this song, Maroon 5's "Won't Go Home Without You" earns pick of the week honors, jumping 21-13 in its third chart week and becoming their quickest to climb into the top 20 since the similar-sounding "She Will Be Loved" in the summer of 2004. The week's greatest gainer is Evans Blue's "Q (The Best One Of Our Lives)", up 29-17 in its second chart week. If its early impact is any indication, expect this to follow in the footsteps of their previous two chart entries. Britney Spears' "Piece Of Me" is the week's highest debut at #30; though it took some time to grow on me, the second single from "Blackout" looks promising to follow the success of "Gimme More". Due to a lack of stronger new music, Gwen Stefani's "Early Winter" and Jennifer Lopez's "Hold It, Don't Drop It" both re-enter the top 40 following plans to release both as proper singles in the near future.
